Carmen, Carrie and Kent had breakfast together, so to speak. Kent had his cereal and Carrie had her formula. I’m not sure what Carmen ate, but it doesn’t matter. Carmen left at about 11AM.

Dad and Rita stopped by to see Carrie and stayed several hours. I finally suggested that we go somewhere for lunch, because I was going stir crazy.
After we ate, Dad and Rita went back home. Carmen asked me if she and Carrie could stay over Saturday night also. She claimed that Carrie was having back spasms, and it wouldn’t be good for her to travel. I was glad for them to stay another night. That meant that I could spend more time with Carrie. I must say that I didn’t see any evidence of back spasms or lethargic behavior. In fact, Carrie had been grabbing Rita’s thumbs earlier and trying to pull herself up. Carmen put a stop to that very quickly. She said that Rita could possibly pull Carrie’s arms out of their sockets. It sounded a bit ridiculous to me.
I picked Kent up from the airport at about 9PM. When we got home, Carmen and Carrie were in bed.

Carmen came down to Lexington today for Carrie’s appointment at Shriner’s Hospital. Afterwards, she brought Carrie to our house to spend the night. She said her appointment was at 10AM. She called my cell phone at about 1:30PM. I had been at Dr. Conklin’s office for an eye appointment. When I got home, Carmen and Carrie were sitting in the front porch swing.
Late in the evening Carmen and I were talking. I was looking up some information about cerebral palsy, specifically spastic diplasia. I couldn’t really find anything. I asked Carmen if she knew exactly how to spell it, but she didn’t. I was thinking diplasia should be dysplasia. In any case, I couldn’t find much information at all about that condition. I’m suspicious about it. Is Carmen mistaken or is she lying altogether?
The conversation turned ugly at some point. She began to tell me all about her last few days with Stewart. She claimed that he tried to kill her by crushing up his medicine (Depakote and Trazedone) and putting it in her food. She said that he did something to cause her to hemorrhage and then left her. She says that she had to dial 911 to get help. When she was stable enough is when she went back to Ohio. I remember that she and Stewart had a fight. He left to go stay with mom. When he went back the next day, Carmen was gone and didn’t leave a note. It was almost a month before Stewart found out where she was.
She went on to say that because of what Stewart did she (Carmen) lost one kidney and most of her liver was damaged. Then she said, “Why do you think I made such a big deal about you being Carrie’s godfather? I wasn’t trying to be morbid. I may not be around very long.”
We started talking about the night she gave birth. She had told me once before that she was giving out Halloween candy when her water broke and that the little girl on her doorstep turned to her mother and said, “Mommy, that woman peed on herself.” Tonight, she said that she was home all alone and went to bed at about 11PM. Her water broke after being in bed for about an hour. I was a little surprised by the change in the story and didn’t feel comfortable confronting her about the discrepancy.
Kent was in Washington DC, so it was just her and me. Stewart came up for a couple hours.
