Carrie is a child who has overcome many obstacles in her short life so far. She was born to a mother and father who each have a mental illness. Her mother, who suffered from Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome, subjected her to numerous medical tests and procedures and medications resulting in multiple hospitalizations and a developmental delay. She was removed from her mother's custody after she turned a year old and now lives permanently with her paternal uncle.

Carrie woke up several times in the night last night. She seemed very upset each time. Needless to say, I’m very tired today.
