Milestones
I would like to report on one of the big milestones for Carrie that goes along with turning 3. She has received therapy services through First Steps on a regular weekly basis to help her overcome her developmental delay. First Steps only provides their services up to age three. In late August her primary service coordinator submitted a referral to Early Start, which is part of the county school system.
I went to several appointments and meetings for all of her assessments with Early Start. Our final meeting with the Early Start people was on Carrie's birthday last Tuesday. They handed us the written assessment report and said, "We can go through the whole report if you want, but she doesn't qualify."
Honestly, that is great news! But we have been involved in this for so long that we expected her to qualify because she does still have a few areas of concern. We just want her to get all the help she needs. In any case, she is doing great! She scored as either average or above average on most categories. There were only 2 or 3 in which she was below average. We may check into getting some private therapy to help her continue to thrive. The people in the meeting gave us a few leads.
Here is a picture from her birthday party and from Halloween for your enjoyment.
