Carrie is a child who has overcome many obstacles in her short life so far. She was born to a mother and father who each have a mental illness. Her mother, who suffered from Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome, subjected her to numerous medical tests and procedures and medications resulting in multiple hospitalizations and a developmental delay. She was removed from her mother's custody after she turned a year old and now lives permanently with her paternal uncle.

Carmen left me a message complaining that Stewart’s lawyer had filed for a continuance in court. She said that they wouldn’t be coming for any visits anytime soon because she didn’t see the need to waste gas or her time.
